Stonehaven earns ISO9001 award

We are very proud to have achieved the ISO9001 award, an internationally acknowledged mark of excellence and quality. The management standard is controlled and granted by IMSM and is reviewed on an annual basis thus ensuring the maintenance of the highest standards. We received the award from Roger Preston of IMSM. Stonehaven Director, Nathan Stone said: ‘It’s always great when the hard work and professionalism of the teams operating within the company is recognised both internally and externally. We are delighted to have been awarded this well respected accreditation.’

Jackie Slack, Carer of the Month

Jackie Slack, Deputy Manager at Cross Park House in Brixham has been nominated as Carer of the Month by the St Lukes District Nursing Team. In a letter to us, they say of Jackie ‘It is always a pleasure to work alongside carers who display a devotion to patient care and Jackie not only did this but did it to a high standard in relation to her care for residents. Often credit for hard work and devotion is overlooked but we would like to pass on our praise for the quality of care Jackie gave and I am sure you will agree she is an asset to your team.’ Congratulations Jackie – a well deserved award.

Christmas at Chollacott House

Residents and their families tucked into a Christmas feast at Chollacott House, our home in Tavistock. Traditional Christmas turkey was served with all the trimmings and washed down with a nice glass of wine or two. Thanks to the Chollacott team for making it such a wonderful Christmas day.

Congratulations to one of our Directors Nathan Stone for receiving the Community Carer Commendation from CareAware. The success of CareAware in assisting people to better understand their rights and choices on matters of funding care, is dependent on the efforts of individuals and groups in the community. Nathan received a bouquet of flowers and a certificate for his own efforts in promoting awareness about funding care in our local community. Well done!

Super Fit Director Supports Devon Car Free Day 2011

Stonehaven Director, Nathan Stone, suprised us all by getting behind the ‘Devon Car Free Day 2011′ campaign and cycling the long distance from home to the office. He enjoyed it so much he’s thinking about doing regularly. Well done Nathan!

Cakes Galore at the Exminster Village Fete!

This years’ Exminster village fete was the first in 20 years! The Manor, our home in Exminster, were asked to take part. Ever keen to support our local community, we jumped at the chance. The Care Team ran a Tombola stand which was extremely popular. Our fabulous chef at The Manor made cakes to sell and a beautifully decorated cake which was used in the ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ competition. There was also a ‘Guess the designer of the cake’ competition – a cake in the style of a handbag made by a famous designer – is there no end to our Chef’s talent! The photograph shows the winner being presented with the cake by one of our Carers, Danielle. The stand made £215.81 and will be used by the residents of The Manor for entertainment of their choice or an outing in the Stonehaven minibus. Well done to all involved – a really great day!

Donnington Carers take part in Race for Life

Vera Peake and Cara Gifford, carers from Donnington House in Westward Ho! took part in the Race for Life on Sunday 10th July and raised £373.00 between them for Cancer Research UK. Well done girls!

Stonehaven homes secure CQUIN certificate and are rewarded with a boost to their residents funds!

In recent months Torbay Care Trust has run a quality assessment for providers of residential care for older people in the Torbay Area. The scheme was voluntary and invited care providers to submit evidence that their operations met a number of important ‘care standards’ as dictated by the Care Trust. Following submission of evidence and assessments of submissions Stonehaven Healthcare Ltd is delighted that its two residential care homes, Cross Park and Frensham House, were two of the 38 homes in the area to be awarded CQUIN status.

In total 41 care homes submitted applications, this represents 36% of the local market. 28 passed outright (including both Cross Park and Frensham House), 10 passed ‘with conditions’ and 3 failed to achieve the necessary standards.

Whilst the care homes, and the company, are delighted by the simple fact that the Cross Park and Frensham House have achieved this endorsement there was also a financial incentive of about £1,000.00 per care home. This ‘reward money’ has been allocated by the company to each homes residents fund to be spent as the residents and care team see fit.

So, great care delivered and a thousand pounds to spend.

Kent House Celebrates the Royal Wedding

Kent House in Okehampton celebrated the Royal Wedding in style!

The home was adorned in Union Jack bunting, and flags were flown by everyone, including resident Beatrice Smith, seen here having a wonderful time! Residents donned their favourite hats, sipped pimms and enjoyed cucumber and salmon sandwiches and Cream Teas. Following the wedding, the party got into full swing with a prize draw and competition for the best hat, won by May, who was presented with a Royal Wedding mug – what else!

It really was a day to remember.

New ‘Drake Unit’ at Chollacott

The Drake Unit – Opening Event 9th September

Don’t miss the opening of the Drake Unit at Chollacott House on Thursday 9th Sepetmber from 2.30pm, Judi Spiers, BBC Broadcaster and the Mayor of Tavistock will officially open the unit, and we will be conducting tours and serving cream teas throughout the afternoon. The celebration of the opening will commence at 7pm with the fabulous Half Quartet Jazz Band, Hog Roast and local ale.
